| EQUINE LAW includes issues involving livery liens, livestock and horse board and care agreements, equestrian accidents.
Care of Livestock: A livestock servicer has a general lien upon the livestock in its possession to secure the performance of all obligations of the owner of the livestock. Various statutory and common law rights and duties attach to the servicer and owner of the livestock.
Equestrian Accidents: There are a variety of substantial hazards accompanying all equestrian activities, including the risk of serious personal injury and death. It is important from the point of view of the horse owner, the rider, bystanders, and the equestrian facility owner that adequate measures be taken to prevent and minimize exposure to these risks, and often, when they occur, to mitigate the cost of the health care and income loss where some misfeasance has occurred not implicit in the risk of such activities.
